Biography

The presenter joined Sumitomo Metal Industries (later merged with Nippon Steel Corporation to form Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation) in 1993 as a fresher. There he was responsible for software development project related to the process computer, which is in operation above the usual DCS and determines optimal set-points for each single controller unit. Later he moved to the Sumitomo Chemical Company in 2000 under the personnel-exchange program between the Sumitomo Group companies. In Sumitomo Chemical, he has been working on the application of dynamic simulation technique for the design and improvement of chemical processes and their control systems. He also has been working on the data analysis and development of soft-sensors, where he applies the knowledge and techniques he acquired during the former job.

Abstract

In this presentation, I will explain about the application of soft-sensing technology in chemical processing industries, including the methods of development and the possible problems faced by the practitioners.
